Long, distinguished history
The Perot family has enjoyed a long and distinguished history in the energy business. After several investments in successful wells throughout Texas and Oklahoma in the 1970s, Ross Perot began to consider the creation of his own independent energy firm. In 1976, Petrus was launched. Petrus grew into a significant business producing proven reserves of 13.7 million barrels of oil and 81.5 BCF of gas as well as over 61,200 leased acres prior to being sold to Bridge Oil from Australia. In 1989 Perot became the lead investor in Merit, a company specializing in direct investments in oil and gas assets. His investment and commitment to the company continue to this day. Through VF-Russia, Hillwood International Energy was among the first United States independents to operate a Russian oil field successfully.
Hillwood International Energy was created to build a global independent company utilising all of the energy experience gained from its predecessor companies. Hillwood has developed the operational and technical capability to operate anywhere in the world.
